Intravenous Compounding
Program Summary
This course is for Pharmacy Technicians who are looking to expand their skills. In this course you will complete complex dosage calculations, review the importance of infection control, demonstrate the preparation of prescriptions (including total parenteral nutrition) for intravenous therapy within a laminar air hood and learn to handle potentially hazardous agents. The Intravenous Compounding course is 6 weeks in length. You will receive 42 hours of classroom instruction. Official Course Outline.

Prerequisites
Graduate or Registered Pharmacy Technician. Minimum 18 years of age and high school completion or its equivalent. You must have a 10th grade math and English comprehension level. You will be required to pass an English language and math pre-screening prior to final admittance into the course. You will also need to have knowledge of basic computer operations.
English and Math Prescreening
You will be required to pass an English language and math prescreening prior to final admittance into any course. This prescreening will be administered on the first day of class. The prescreening covers basic English language reading and comprehension as well as basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals and percentages). See sample prescreening assessments. If the applicant does not pass the exam they can request a refund of the 100% of fees paid. This refund will be processed within 7 business days from the first day of the course.
